WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange tells "Forbes" magazine that he's preparing to release tens of thousands of sensitive documents about a major American bank early next year. Assange's revelation comes as the White House continues to condemn WikiLeaks' release of tens of thousands of classified State Department documents.

A school hostage situation ended late yesterday when a 15-year-old Wisconsin boy released 23 of his classmates and a teacher he had held against their will. It happened at Marinette High School, located about 50 miles north of Green Bay. None of the 24 hostages were hurt in the standoff.

Don't expect a deal on tax cuts when President Obama hosts a bipartisan meeting with congressional leaders today. That's according to White House spokesman Robert Gibbs. Gibbs said the meeting will be more about setting a tone for cooperation once Republicans take the reins of the House in January. Bush-era tax cuts are set to expire at year's end.

A groundbreaking food safety bill is likely to face a contentious congressional vote as early as today. Senate Bill 510 is designed to give the FDA more power to recall tainted products. It would also bolster inspections of meat and vegetable processors, as well as create more rigid standards for maintaining food safety.
