The Calgary Flames scored three unanswered goals in the third period to come from behind and beat the Detroit Red Wings 4-2 last night at Joe Louis Arena. With the loss, Detroit is one point behind Calgary for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Wings host the Minnesota Wild tomorrow night.

Home runs by Maggilo Ordonez and Austin Jackson helped the Tigers beat the Washington Nationals 9-4 yesterday in Grapefruit League action. The game marked the debut of the number one overall pick in the MLB draft and Nationals pitching prospect Stephen Strasburg. Strasburg worked two innings, allowing only two singles. The Tigers host the Yankees this afternoon.

The Detroit Pistons will host the Utah Jazz tonight at The Palace tonight. Detroit guard Rodney Stuckey is listed as questionable. Stuckey, who collapsed during a game last week in Cleveland, has had several tests taken and all have come back negative. Stuckey has not been cleared to play by team doctors.

Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo has suspended guard Chris Allen indefinitely. Allen reportedly failed to meet team obligations, including academics. MSU is preparing for the Big Ten men's basketball tournament in Indianapolis. The Spartans will play either Penn State or Minnesota on Friday. Allen will not be in the lineup.

In the girls playoffs last night.. Grand Rapids Christian end Holland Christian's season... and Rockford eliminates West Ottawa.
